The appointment went really well. Both Nikki and the baby are doing great! This was the last appointment with our OB, Dr. Porter, before we start rotating with the other doctors in her practice, so we were trying to think of good questions to ask her the night before. After brainstorming for awhile, Nikki and I came to the conclusion that we had already asked Google everything we wanted to know... All hail the Mighty Google!
After a quick lunch, we headed to the radiologist for the sonogram. We were both a bit more anxious than we should have been. It was similar to that feeling you get before the roller coaster ride starts. That feeling quickly subsided the second we saw her. That's right, I said HER! We're having a little girl! And better yet, the sonogram indicated everything is going very well so far and she is very healthy! She was an estimated 12 ounces (2 ounces bigger than average) with a heart rate in the 130's.
It was amazing to see how much she's grown. We could see her little legs kicking around, practicing her soccer skills already. She would suck her tiny thumb every now and then too! Our little girl was kind of shy and didn't want to show her face (even after Nikki got up and walked around a bit) so they had us schedule another appointment the following week.
That appointment was yesterday. Little Melon, as we call her now, was A LOT more active and had put on 2 more ounces, making her a almost a pound! She was twisting, turning and kicking all over the place. When she settled down we could see her tongue move as she sucked her thumb again. But soon enough, like last time, she tucked her little face away in the one spot the sonogram couldn't reach. We did get some good views of her profile and one 3D image where you can see her hiding behind the placenta.
With any luck, she'll be as beautiful as mommy

You can almost see her face in this 3D image
Oh yeah, I almost forgot to include our picture of Nikki's ever-growing baby bump:
Oh, okay...I'll give you guys another since you've been waiting so patiently for a new post.
Grow, Melon, grow!
The size of our little girl (although she's probably bigger):
